Anyone else losing excitement/interest?

Was so excited at the beginning. Loved the Traveler and all it offered. Thought the Harvester option was simply awesome.

Then I found out the Harvester took away half of the battery-only range and handicapped towing. So, I cancelled it and kept the BEV version.

Then Trump announced his tariffs and my country (Canada) announced reciprocal tariffs. Then there was a logical discussion that it wouldn't make any sense for Scout to offer sales or service centres in Canada given the new animosity between the two former allies.

And now we know that it's going to cost Scout more to build the vehicle. Especially, if any components are coming from China as Trump just announced 104% tariffs on all Chinese goods and he's said that's only the beginning. The world order is reshaping and it's anyone's guess what this will mean.

Also, my investments are way down and spending up $100K on this SUV is now a no-go. Before you flame me that it's not $100K, remember I'm in Canada and our dollar is very weak.

I used to check this forum a couple of times a day. Now I barely think about it anymore and am on the cusp of getting my $150.00 BEV reservation deposit back.

Is anyone else feeling the same way or am I just a whiny b1tch and most of you will just wish me good riddance?

I hear you, my investments are down over $100K also, that’s more than the cost of a fully loaded Traveler, so it’s a good thing the truck won’t be available for 2+ years, I am definitely in a wait and see mode.

Totally understand how it's hard to be excited about an SUV with how things are going right now. A few months ago I was happily self-debating about having to choose between a Scout Traveler and Rivian R2, and figuring out if I'm going to wait on the Scout, get both, what configuration(s) I'd get, etc. Now with all of the uncertainty in the US with everything both politically and economically - I'm not sure if I'll get either and might just have to buy my EV6 at the end of my lease because at least I know exactly how much that will cost no matter what the tariff situation is (and will surely be cheaper than any good low-mileage used vehicle I'd actually want to drive). It's just not as fun to speculate anymore. I'm really hoping all of this settles down by then and this is all just negotiation tactics that will somehow work. But I don't have much confidence that's all it will end up being.

I totally get it. I've lost excitement and interest in most everything now. I've canceled most plans that involve expenditures that aren't absolutely necessary. I'm going to keep my Scout reservation just in case the economy is better by then but I don't hold much hope for that. The damage appears to be irreparable for the foreseeable future. I'm now planning on keeping my now 9 year old vehicle for as long as it runs well.

I am hanging on to my reservation. In 2 + years EVERYTHING will be more expensive regardless of current distractions in Washington. Not a lot of new info on Scout recently so Forum has been a little slower. I have collected Scout pic’s over the past few months that I look at to remind me of why Scout is worth the wait. Scout's price will likely be above the announced target price when available but hopefully they will recognize that some of us will want a more practical level of options (like the original). Keep the faith (and save a little extra cash when you can).

2 years is a long time to wait. There is going to be plenty of time for excitement to wain and wax over that time. Market wise, plenty of time for ups and down. Only real thing I am loosing interest in is checking the forums multiple times a day for more news.

Currently building my forever house - which is wiping my savings dry (but 15 years of savings for a paid for house is not all that bad). But 2 years is plenty of time to build up enough money to get a new car.

yah. Funny u mention pictures. 6-8 weeks ago I had this printed out in foam core as a reminder of my goal.

The insecurity of markets etc and tariffs doesn’t bother me all that much. The uncertainty of everything in the EV world in general & uncertainty of everything that is unknown or could change about the Scout is just as much or more so a drain on my enthusiasm.

I'm there with you. Combine the market with no new info, no closer to production renderings (those high beltlines can't stay due to pedestrian safety), no specs on this solid e-axle, no pricing information, nothing.

The reality is that delivery of these two vehicles is so far off worrying about anything right now is pointless. Just sit back and relax. This will be a Bronco repeat.

Definitely understand the sentiment, but I have peace of mind knowing that we've gone from max hype to the current sentiment in one quarter, and we have 2 years before this is reality and a LOT can change between now and then.

I am still very excited about my reservation. Like others have said, a lot can happen in two years. I think the turbulence of the world right now will provide challenges and may push innovations for Scout during their build up.

Excellent thoughts. My concern is that investment funds will (and are) drying up for many area of innovation in the US based on policies in last 90 days. Will VW continue to invest is Scout if they see the US trade and EV policies as an economic threat? Canadians might benefit from having an open market for other EV solutions (avoiding US produced products). absolutely not. I am besides myself thinking of it. The weight thing while towing is really a non issue. It is more like they are trying to keep apples to apples instead of what it is. Strawberries and bananas. I would not go to deep into that yet. Also, it is very American so being here I am not worried. These Tarrifs are just here to keep us equal when it comes to trade. If Canada is charging US 35% tariff than that is what we are charging them. IF they drop it so do we. Just being fair. And it's a Scout!! What is not to love? Just LOOK at it! Amazing.

I’m trying to figure out if this post is truly about the loss of excitement/interest in the Scout or a political view.
The Scout is two years away, so much will change by that time. No one can predict the future, but purchasing a Scout “TWO” years from now gives me something to look forward to. Heck, Canada could be the 51st state by then too. Lol - keep the faith my friend!
