I will drive up to 45 minutes but that’s likely my limit. Anything further away or that forces me to drive through a big city is likely a no-go. How about you? And yes, I’m aware they are planning a mobile service network but there’s a limit to what these folks can do.

To learn more about Scout Service Center plans see:

Scout Stores / Service Centers ("Scout Studios") plans revealed: 25 will open in 2027, expanding to 100 by 2032

Service will be the biggest downside to the new Scout. There can be the Right to Repair with all the manuals available, but just because we know how to do major work on our Scout II's doesn't mean many of us have the ability to diagnose and repair the electronics in the Traveler or Terra (or even those in a 2024 anything ICE). It's a whole different game.

I agree with other posters. If I can drop it off for service 30 min. away and have a way back home (or have it picked up), that would be acceptable. But if it's going to be a daily driver, a couple hours away just won't work for most people.

Because distance is meaningless. In a big city, it can take you an hour and a half to go 25 miles. Warranty has nothing to do with how far someone is willing to drive for service.
I agree, time is precious. I’m extremely fortunate as I live 800’, about 3 min. from the Rivian Service Center in Denver. It’s a huge peace of mind.
If everything comes together for my Scout Traveler reservation, I ‘ll be retired, or damn close, and living in Charlotte. That should be about an hour from the factory. That won’t be bad!

Cool. Hope the weather is nicer. We are there about 4 times a year. Next is mid-February for wedding shower and again in May for PGA Championship @ Quail Hallow.

That sounds more fun than the shopping the wife plans on doing. I’m hoping to hit up some guitar shops.

We have a Mazda 6 we love now flirting with 300.000 trouble-free miles.
Dealers are over a half hour away.

Not to fond of that but it works.
They flip the wife the keys to a new Mazda to use while they routine service the car. If they are busy she can come back tomorrow, or even drive it to 'Vegas if she wants to.
That kinda service makes up for the drive.

Dunno if anyone realizes Scouts Synergy with Rivian is HUGE. It's going to make a big difference in fewer mulligans, fewer if any service visits. I'll stick my neck out with that take.

Some of our "updates" to our GMC are over the air, some the dealer wants us to come in because we're told it's an hackable update if done over the air.
Damfino anything about how that jives, but that's what they tell us.

Don't have a 9 year old in the house to explain how it all works..

I said "Up to an Hour" but ... I live near Sacramento and have two Tesla Service Centers within 30 minutes of my home. Since we have 3 Tesla's in the family, having two SC's that close is great. One of them is a 10 minute drive.

That said, we have had very few opportunities to use the SC's as the Tesla's and BEV's in general are by design very reliable. With Scout being an entirely new brand, and having the more maintenance intensive Range Extender option, Service Center availability might be critical to success. There will be many new options for a BEV SUV or Truck by late 2027 and so having a Service and Delivery center close by would be a boost to sales. Obviously If Scout were to work out a "deal" with VW for service and delivery that would be the best solution. IMHO

Not for me lol. I live in a smaller community and going to the nearest VW dealer is probably 1.5 hours away in permanently heavy traffic. That wouldn’t be fun.

There won't be any 'deal' with VW. That would just provide justification for the lawsuits to prevent Scout from doing direct to consumer sales. Since Scout maintains that they are a separate company from VW, they will have to limit their relationship with VW.

No one knows but ... where there's a will, there's a way. The auto industry is changing and only the creative will survive.
