Most articles are saying “we’ll see where the engine is located” but I think it was pretty clear what the gameplan is from the images in the reveal. At least for the SUV, it looks like it hangs off the back. They didn’t show the Terra with it, but I’m hoping it is similar and takes up the under bed storage area that Rivian/Ridgeline have.

He also stated “it won’t impact the packaging of the vehicle, such as the front trunk”

The main Scout site narrative definitely states a front trunk with a photo depicted of it for the Traveler, using the exterior view link

where will the radiator go for the range extender engine?
A good question, one of the dozens of ER ICE-related ones we can only speculate on for the next 1-2 years, right now the Scout EREV systems is pretty much all sizzle and very little steak.

I currently look at one vehicle I have in my garage that has a few similarities with the proposed new Scout and wonder if it offers any clues. That vehicle is a lowly bare-bones ICE-only powered Kawasaki Mule 4010 4x4 UTV. It too has a rear(ish) mounted IC engine (just forward of the rear wheels) and a 'frunk'. Radiator/electric fan/overflow tank is in the conventional location (front of vehicle behind plastic grill), and a steel main cooling line running low in the frame from radiator to the V-twin N.A. FI engine. The engine air intake is a snorkle-like arrangement (actual air intake point is at the high point of its tubular rollbar cage).

Assuming Scout is dead-set about retaining a 'frunk' feature and isn't planning an air-cooled engine, that's the only radiator arrangement I can wrap my head around at present. Regards planned 'stock' air intake for the ER ICE, no idea what they have planned. I personally wouldn't be troubled a bit if Scout's final Terra design foregoes the 'frunk' and puts the ER ICE in the front (like the Ramcharger, like the non-US Mazda EREV with the DI Wankel), the Traveler folks might be disappointed though..........

I know zero about EV's. Doesn't that HV battery require a separate cooling system also, with a radiator etc?

I'm also new to EV's but I think you're correct about battery cooling. I have a Traveler reservation, and I would not be opposed to a frunk more like the Rivian.......where only the hood opens, and the grill stays in place. That would provide a space for a radiators and fans.

Battery cooling for EVs is generally a loop off the AC
