I’m trying to figure out if this post is truly about the loss of excitement/interest in the Scout or a political view.
The Scout is two years away, so much will change by that time. No one can predict the future, but purchasing a Scout “TWO” years from now gives me something to look forward to. Heck, Canada could be the 51st state by then too. Lol - keep the faith my friend!
lets sure hope it is not political. I am going with NOT. Policies change. Things happen. Shit occurs, ect. I have a CT. Waited for that as well. I LOVE it. SOOO amazing. Cannot take grandkids for rides anymore until all this calms down. SO weird.

Nope! Excitement is still high. Everything about the Scout is exciting. Production and delivery are at least 2 years away. Our world will change 15 times by then.

The want it now mentality is not satiated with a long term delivery. Luckily, I like to plan and 2 years goes by faster and faster. I would be stressed at Scout trying to reach the finish line in time. I am sure they have goals and milestones set to try and keep on track. I don't think hitting the political reset button will keep them down. It is hard to beat hard work and achievable goals.
I think more news from Scout would keep people engaged in the forum and help it grow. I think there will be floods and draughts of info that match the building and manufacturing process.
It is hard to get really excited about any vehicles out there now. Having seen it in person a couple days ago, I think it will be worth the wait.

Was so excited at the beginning. Loved the Traveler and all it offered. Thought the Harvester option was simply awesome.

Then I found out the Harvester took away half of the battery-only range and handicapped towing. So, I cancelled it and kept the BEV version.

Then Trump announced his tariffs and my country (Canada) announced reciprocal tariffs. Then there was a logical discussion that it wouldn't make any sense for Scout to offer sales or service centres in Canada given the new animosity between the two former allies.

And now we know that it's going to cost Scout more to build the vehicle. Especially, if any components are coming from China as Trump just announced 104% tariffs on all Chinese goods and he's said that's only the beginning. The world order is reshaping and it's anyone's guess what this will mean.

Also, my investments are way down and spending up $100K on this SUV is now a no-go. Before you flame me that it's not $100K, remember I'm in Canada and our dollar is very weak.

I used to check this forum a couple of times a day. Now I barely think about it anymore and am on the cusp of getting my $150.00 BEV reservation deposit back.

Is anyone else feeling the same way or am I just a whiny b1tch and most of you will just wish me good riddance?
I feel the same unfortunately. I was very excited about the release be at the time I retire. Was not too worried about a the changes with towing and battery range.

Now with the tariff chaos I am not too sure what will happen.
Still trying to optimistic that my local VW will help with service centres but not sure. Hopefully in a few years some sanity will prevail.

I hear you. I have been through a similar situation before when I put my pre-order in on my Model 3 back in the day. When there is this much lead time there will be lulls in new info, etc., so it is natural for enthusiasm to wane some. As for the economics, in this case it is good that production isn't starting for quite awhile to let everything get sorted out. If things do not get sorted over that amount of time I will probably be worried about far bigger issues than whether or not to buy a new vehicle....

My Investments which are everything to someone retired and on a self imposed fix income of 3% of my total balance have been hammered by the stock market. Which is fine. The key I think is don't touch it! Don't time the market! Just let it come roaring back. Hell how much money did you lose after the housing crash of late '07/'08? Personally I lost zero. But my accounts were down 40% in I believe February. But it was all back by September. Ubelievably scary but what a lesson. The rich are not going to let the market tank for too long. The markets corrections are natural and a form of expression to the political machine. But just hang in there, this will pass!

PS if other countries has 1 / 10th of a brain they would not retaliate with Tariffs. Tariffs are a tax on your own citizens. As everyone knows if you tariff another country it's the same thing as imposing that tariff as an extra sales tax on your people. So here's an idea - Don't retaliate! Let America tax their citizens to death and you keep inflation nice and low in your countries and your citizens wealthy. Why are the other politicians so so stupid to not see this??

You are not just a whiny b... Your concerns are all valid.

Although everyone else is right also in that a lot can (and will) change in the next two to three years before the reservations will be called up.

I'm just gonna sit on my reservation as that amount of money doesn't make a lot of difference on the day to day at this point. If I'm unhappy with the result or price when my res is up, I'll just get my refund then (and buy some eggs)... :)

2 years is a long time to wait. There is going to be plenty of time for excitement to wain and wax over that time. Market wise, plenty of time for ups and down. Only real thing I am loosing interest in is checking the forums multiple times a day for more news.

Currently building my forever house - which is wiping my savings dry (but 15 years of savings for a paid for house is not all that bad). But 2 years is plenty of time to build up enough money to get a new car.
That sounds pretty exciting. And time consuming :)

Excellent thoughts. My concern is that investment funds will (and are) drying up for many area of innovation in the US based on policies in last 90 days. Will VW continue to invest is Scout if they see the US trade and EV policies as an economic threat? Canadians might benefit from having an open market for other EV solutions (avoiding US produced products). I would guess Scout may delay launch further as funding becomes uncertain. https://fortune.com/europe/2025/04/...tify-impact-trump-tariffs-us-sales-china-evs/

Haha. No, not political although politics is impacting everything now. Nothing I can do about Trump’s decisions so no need to spend time thinking about him other than trying to fathom what’s next. Which, seems useless in this unfolding chaos.

Its still a long ways away from 2027 so its a wait and see. Rivian went through turmoil as they were preparing to launch in 2020/2021 due to the pandemic. Somehow they got through it though their long term success still is TBD.

As everyone else, my investments are down. I don't know if it will make financial sense when Scout releases - depends on pricing, specs and competition.

There’s no denying that there is a lot of noise and uncertainty at the moment. If history has shown us anything, most vehicles don’t up costing the original announced price so this is somewhat expected regardless. I’m in the process of getting my dream house built and took a hit on my retirement so money is tight at the moment. However, we are still some time away and people need to remember that most Scout vehicles won’t start rolling out until late 2027 and early 2028.
