I only have 1 hours experience with the Toyota's app and my new 4R6G. My question is about installing the app on my wife's phone and using the same car features. Has anyone done this. Will it need a separate account or just a second instance of my account?

Thanks......

Had it for years and I’ve tried it both ways. 2 accounts or 1 and it seems to only work on one device for one vehicle at a time

So, if my wife drives one day and I drive another, it will work. If both of us in the car, only open the app on one device????

Like if you log in it will kick her out or at least that was my experience but I’ve never asked a Toyota expert

Yea I have the app on my phone and my wife’s, haven’t had any issues. She had to log in using my credentials though since the car can only be registered to one person as the primary driver. I had to call connected services to figure that out because it wasn’t detecting her as a profile in the car infotainment.

Thanks for the answers. I'll have to see if we value it to pay for the service in 1 year.

I did sign up for the AT&T wifi. In addition to the $20 a month, you can choose to pay yearly and it goes down to $16 a month. That should enable me to do Apple Maps, music, podcasts, etc.

you can do all that with apple car play though. It connects to your phone and uses its cellular connection so you don’t actually need to pay AT&T for any of that

Clarification - My iPhone is on a limited data plan and very low cost. Its Xfinity. As we are mostly at home or I a place with WiFi, we ordinarily use very little data. It's typically $20 + tax for four people on the plan Text, Voice and 1GB shared data. (Yes, four devices, $20+tax)

Therefore, for $16 AT&T plan, I can use connected stuff in the vehicle without killing my Xfinity data plan. Xfinity charge $20 for another 1GB or $45 for unlimited. So, at $16 a month for AT&T in the vehicle, its a deal for me.
