Ugh. Then I hope they are smart enough to have some software interlock that prevents it from actually turning off the vehicle when it is not in "park." I will 100% accidentally hit that button.
That ticks off one major concern my wife has. The other is the weird decision to put the power button on the steering wheel. I will 100% accidentally hit it in that location.
Let me clarify my statement. I believe the generator will have a max output power needed to drive the wheels. Will it tow? No. Will it climb a mountain? No. But if you are driving at reasonable interstate speeds, I believe the RE will 100% allow for unlimited range as long as you keep it filled...
I like this breakdown but I disagree with the final paragraph. My opinion is the RE will charge the battery but it's primary purpose is to provide enough power to the vehicle to keep it moving. So, at a minimum I believe the generator will have the same max output power as the wheels.
I do not...
My guess is the price will be about the same. Fewer expensive batteries offset by the extra engineering and EPA compliance needed for a gas engine.
On plus side, I think it will then qualify as a PHEV for registration purposes in most states.
I need to see more details on the cabana roof. Wife was initially for it and then immediately remembered we live in an area that can get thunderstorms. How sturdy is when when driving through one? Also, how much noise will it make while driving?
So, I'm more inclined to get the giant moonroof...
My take: Off the shelf part makes for easier and cheaper repairs compared to custom solutions. I hope home garage repairs is something Scout is keeping in mind.
15 years ago, 100%. Today, I actually prefer having bucket seats with the center console. Wife and I get enough physical contact without the need for a bench seat. 😉
