Jay Leno drives Scout Hybrid Harvester - Towing Capacity, Gas Fuel Tank Capacity, More Specs Revealed

if you’re right, then I could see Scout upping the capacity back to 10K with a WDH. Rivian makes the same claims with their towing capacity - the full rating is only with a WDH and is halved otherwise.

Jay Leno drives Scout Hybrid Harvester - Towing Capacity, Gas Fuel Tank Capacity, More Specs Revealed

We’ll put - this is exactly the situation I’m in. I don’t need more than about 300 miles of range for normal use, but I need to be able to sustain 150 miles of towing from 10% to 80% SOC. That means max towing range of around 200-250 miles to have some flexibility. Pure EV is just hitting the...

Jay Leno drives Scout Hybrid Harvester - Towing Capacity, Gas Fuel Tank Capacity, More Specs Revealed

Ouch. I was hoping the Terra Harvester would replace my Rivian R1T Quad Motor in pulling my Airstream with more range. It has the range but now removes the capacity. This one’s a showstopper for me.

Towing Range with Scout - Harvester EREV vs. Full-EV and Traveler vs. Terra

I have been towing a NuCamp TAB400 and an Airstream Trade Wind 25FBT with my Rivian R1T. It is true - weight doesn’t matter much. Both trailers ended up around 1.1-1.2 miles per kWh even though the Airstream is twice as heavy. On my large battery / quad motor config, that comes out to around 150...

VW dealers / NADA may sue to change Scout's direct-to-customer business plan

I presume he means he hopes VW Auto Group wins against the VW dealerships.

VW dealers / NADA may sue to change Scout's direct-to-customer business plan

Agree - and why just VW? Perhaps Porsche dealers should be able to sell them too. And why stop there? Let Ducati dealers sell Scout, Porsche, and VW vehicles... we can play this game all day.

Towing what with your future Scout? -- Using Traveler or Terra?

Yeah - most of the range degradation in EV towing comes from aerodynamics, in my experience. That setup doesn't look like it's going to a huge amount of drag.

Offering free pick up at Columbia Metropolitan Airport for ride to Scout Plant

You sound like a fun person to hang out with. When the time comes, I hope this offer still stands and I'm able to reach out to you to enjoy the ride to pick up my Scout, trade some stories, and perhaps share a beer and some lunch on me. Thank you for being one of the good ones!

Maintenance of Harvester gas engine range extender

I would plan to change oil on any ICE engine on at least an annual basis, even if the engine isn't getting much use. Oil breaks down over time and the generally accepted practice is to do it no less than once a year.

Towing what with your future Scout? -- Using Traveler or Terra?

I am, in fact, very concerned about this. If I'm not able to tow with the harvester without charging frequently, then I may decide against going with the Scout and just keep my Rivian. As it stands, I already stop every 2 hours for half an hour of charging with the Rivian+Airstream combo. I need...

Range Extender can be turned off / disabled via menu setting screen

The real question for me is can I tow for 250 miles and then refuel with gas and keep going, or do I still need to charge at a charging station? If I can truly “recharge anywhere” with the range extender, then I’d happily accept 250 miles while towing and then needing to refuel.

Towing what with your future Scout? -- Using Traveler or Terra?

it would be a step backwards for Scout not to have an integrated brake controller - if they’re using Rivian software anyway, let’s hope that includes their implementation of the brake controller. It uses the right side steering wheel scroll wheel (press in to engage) and it works well. The...

Pricing difference between EV+Gas (Harvester) vs. Full-EV model?

We need to start somewhere, so I welcome the notion of exploring this platform as a Tow Vehicle. In fact, I'm already on the bleeding edge using a Rivian R1T as a primary Tow Vehicle for an 8000 lb travel trailer - it is by no means an ideal situation, but so long as you do your homework and...

Cabana Top option for both Scout EV SUV and Pickup Truck?

It looks similar in concept to the Jeep retractable fabric top. I know it's had issues in the past as far as leaks and getting stuck are concerned. Let's hope the Scout engineers do this one better.

Front Bench Seat closeup photos -- who's going to option it?

Not putting a person there (at least not primarily), but my dog likes to place himself between my wife and I so this would likely be his seat.

Here's a picture of my Rivian R1T with the Airstream Trade Wind in its natural habitat... I hope to not spend as much time doing this with the Scout Terra Harvester!

Introductions & Welcome Thread For New & Old Members 👋

Indeed - put on over 6000 miles this summer from NY to FL and back and NY to MO and back and various other trips localized to the Northeast. The plan is to travel all the way out West and that starts to give me range anxiety with my current set up. Last year I was pulling a smaller travel...
